Canon EOS 7D Specifications

Key features of the new EOS 7D:
  • 18 MPixels CMOS sensor, APS-C format
  • 8 fps continuous shooting
  • 1080p HD video recording
  • 1.0x viewfinder magnification and 100% coverage
  • 19-point cross-type AF system
  • 3.0 inch Clear View II LCD, 920 k dots
  • Wireless flash control
  • Magnesium alloy body with weather sealing
Wanting to match their new slogan: "Designed by you, built by Canon", they added features requested by photographers or already marketed by rivals. The 1080p HD video shooting, appreciated for it's image quality on 5D MkII, was added to 7D with full manual control.
The 1.0x magnification viewfinder closely matches Nikon D300 (1.52 D300 vs. 1.5 7D), when multiplication factor is counted. Wireless flash control and weather sealing is also seen in rival cameras.

Clearly, Canon wants to have all currently marketed features on their camera and, by adding some pixel count, to be positioned as a default choice for current Canon users and to be more appealing for new clients.
